For teachers of all instruments and voice
Students of MTASN teachers are invited and encouraged to participate in any of the events listed below. CSMTA and MTNA member teachers are welcome to enter their students for an extra fee. Application forms are handed out at meetings prior to the deadline or may be downloaded as available at the bottom of this page.

Entry deadline: October 7, 2020
Required solo style period: Classical
Held annually in early November. A competitive solo event for intermediate and advanced students with auditions and a winners' recital. Students perform two pieces by memory in contrasting styles, one of which must be from the required style period for that year (Baroque, Classical, Romantic or 20th/21st century). The required style rotates yearly as determined by the Festival committee. Winners perform in a recital the next day and are awarded a trophy following their performance. All participants receive a certificate and written comments from the judges.
COLLABORATIVE RECITAL EVENT
January, 2021 (TBA, may be cancelled due to Covid-19) at 3:00 pm, if two recitals are needed, the times will be 2:00 and 3:30 pm.
Entry deadline: Postmark January TBA
Held annually the last Sunday in January. This is a non-competitive recital for all varieties of ensembles. Students receive written evaluations from one adjudicator and a ribbon for their participation. Students (K-12), adults and teachers are permitted to perform on this recital but at least one student must participate in each performance.
Entry deadline: February 2021
Held annually in late February or early March. This non-competitive event focuses on music performance, knowledge and creativity. Students' creative projects are displayed at the event and later at a public library for all to enjoy.
